Puller & Retriever Heads
Automatic Four Jaw Pull Head (R Type)
 |
This four jaw broach pull head assures
positive and automatic connection on horizontal broaching machines. When
the broach connects
a coil spring moves the sleeve forward
engaging and
locking all four jaws around the broach shank. The broach is disengaged by
contact of the sleeve against a preset stop
which moves the sleeves back
and unlocks the jaws. This puller can be provided with radial index key
that maintains angular rotation. |
Automatic Four Jaw Pull Head (RD Type)
The threaded RD pull head is used for
pull-down broaching operations where chips fall or are washed downward by
coolant onto the pull head. Special design of the head includes an
umbrella top to shed falling chips and a hole in the length of the puller
for chips to wash through. This head is identical in operation to the R
type and can also be provided with radial index keys. |

|
Precision Automatic Puller (PRD Type)

|
Precision long shank pullers locate in a 2 inch diameter bore.
The bored hole
rather than threads provide better puller accuracy in relationship of machine and fixture.
The parts are produced with less runout and better concentricity. Long
shank pullers can have either the R or RD style head. This type puller is
used on pull down and table-up broaching machines. |
Horizontal Keyway Puller
Designed primarily for keyway broaches or
types of broaches using rectangular shanks
this pull head can be manually
or automatically operated. Proper pulling alignment is assured as the head
holds the broach in position against the flat surfaces and provides a
positive broach locking action. The keyway broach pull head is built in
two sizes. The number (0) for broach shanks up to a maximum of .75 x .75
inch and the number (1) head for shanks with a maximum of 1.5 x 1.5
inches. |

Automatic Four Jaw Long Shank Retriever head
(PR Type)
|
Precision long shank retriever
heads locate in a 2 inch diameter hole in the handler slide. This
type retriever head is used on pull down and table-up broaching
machines. It uses the same type of mechanism as used in the R type
puller. |
Detent Retriever Heads
Detent type retriever heads hold the broach cutting
tools above the workpiece with a spring loaded button. The button
fits into a notch ground into the retriever shank. This retriever
head can be provided with radial index keys. This type of retriever
does not need a trip-off bar. They are limited to lighter broach
tools. |

Hydraulically Actuated Pullers & Retrievers

|
The automatic hydraulic puller
and retrievers are actuated with a cylinder rather than the mechanical cam
found on conventional units. The hydraulic units are actuated
through a PLC and hydraulic directional valve and are not dependent upon
the movement of the slides. |
